The Summer Transportation Institute is seeking applications. It is a four-week-long intensive program sponsored by the U.S. Department of Transportation, Massachusetts Highway Department and Merrimack College. The Institute seeks to aid in developing a diverse and robust workforce for the transportation industry by exposing 10th, 11th, and 12th grade high school students to transportation careers. The next class is scheduled for 26 June - 22 July 2011.

YGL-B purchased a limited number of tickets in section 104.  There is a pre-game celebration of service starting at 12:00 pm which will include food, drinks, and a performance by the 2009 Funniest Fed, Jeff Maurer. Nationals Park is in southeast DC, just blocks away from the Navy Yard metro station.
